best way to cook bacon

bacon 8

as you may recall a couple weeks ago, i co-hosted my friend, tammy’s dc bridal shower. i made a bunch of different dishes from a spring frittata to browned butter blueberry muffins. but do you know what was the hit of the brunch menu?

BACON!

can you believe it!?!? it was too funny. everyone gobbled it up and complimented how well it was cooked. so kind, but it was one of the easiest things i prepared for the brunch. since everyone loved it so much, i figured it would be worth sharing this cooking method with you all.

start off with regular ol’ bacon. we buy bacon in bulk from costco – no judging!

bacon 2

line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

bacon 1

and arrange the bacon strips in a single layer on the baking sheets.

bacon 3

bake the bacon at 400 degrees f for 15-20 minutes (depending on how crispy you like your bacon). quick tip, about 10 minutes in, i’ll often switch the pan on the lower oven rack with the one on the higher one, so both pans will cook more evenly.

bacon 4

transfer the bacon to a paper towel lined plate to allow the excess fat to drip off.

bacon 5

i also like to use an extra paper towel to dab off the fat from the top of the bacon too.

bacon 6

now your bacon is ready to just eat as is or to use in your favorite recipe – how about this ranch blt pasta salad or these bacon & cheddar muffins. everything is better with bacon!

bacon 9

i especially love using this method of cooking bacon because clean up is a breeze. since you baked the bacon in the oven you don’t have to worry about fat/oil splattering all over your kitchen. also, once you’re done cooking the bacon just let the fat cool and solidify on the parchment paper and then throw it away. easy peasy!
